Halloween Is Over Novel Review - A Much More Satisfying Story

Released Tuesday (10/18), Halloween Is Over: Official Novel described by the author, Paul Brad Logan, as ‘very own thing’. It breaks out of the movie in episodes, adds many supporting characters, and has creative spin-offs on everything from the Thorn cult to the Tramer family.

Yet there is so much more to this book. this halloween ends The novelization is a case study in which a ‘do-it-yourself’ adaptation transcends its source material. It’s the rare case that a novelization has become too powerful to be contained as its own thing anymore, except that everything becomes a thing… but better?

Ultimately, Haddonfield finds his new favorite Boogeyman in the form of Corey Cunningham, a precision 24-year-old mechanic who accidentally kills his post while babysitting on Halloween night.

Despite not committing any wrongdoing, our suspect, alliteratively named hero becomes the pariah of the town. He’s not Michael Myers, but who cares? In the traumatized eyes of many of his compatriots, Corey is the next best/worst thing.

Unfortunately for many viewers, the movie version halloween ends it fails to make those live connections, but instead becomes a sort of remake of John Carpenter. Christine With The Shape instead of a car.

In the context of this wildly uneven franchise, Corey Cunningham’s anti-hero story has been described as a “wild swing” by avid fans and a “barely bum” by disillusioned others. Logan undoes the disturbing new layers within The Shape by looking at Michael with a god’s eye. It’s not the last unstoppable machine we encountered. Halloween Killsbut a rabid dog whose bloodlust was barely satisfied. Then with so much damage to your body Halloween Kills (and additional blows early in the novel), it’s easiest to expect this version of Michael to die.

But fate has something different for our sexiest slasher. There are new friends to be made, old accounts to be settled. Logan forges a psychic vampiric relationship with Corey and Michael that organically turns from misunderstood respect to fierce rivalry between the characters.

Like humans anthropomorphizing dangerous animals, the characters encounter Michael and project their own humanity into The Shape. They get too close and get killed or Corey (and in Allison and Laurie’s case) infected.

as a movie halloween ends It mocks the idea in its first third, then practically shatters the entire premise for the climax of an action movie. While it has the same timeline of events as the movie, the novel reinterprets them as the darkest conclusion to a Michael Myers story since then. halloween 4. Unconstrained by mainstream audience expectations, Logan is fully committed to a coda that is implied only in the final take of the finished movie. It’s a surprisingly obvious twist that ties the reboot trilogy together in a deliciously bloody, bittersweet arc. Thanks to Logan for sticking with this ending that turned Frank and Laurie’s endearing last encounter into an even more ominous omen for Haddonfield’s next big boogeyman.

If you love Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, or any part of the David Gordon Green trilogy, you really should give it a go. halloween ends romanizing a reading. Where the movie has polarized fans of the series, the novelization smooths out the rough edges of the story and will undoubtedly win its fair share of disgruntled fans.
