We’ve known for a while that NVIDIA is preparing at least three new GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards to quickly roll out their Ampere GPU inventories. These include the RTX 3060, RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti. NVIDIA even listed a model in their store a few weeks ago, but now Videocardz has released the first images of a special model from ASUS confirming the new and upgraded model.

The graphics card is the ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti TUF Gaming OC, which comes with the same core configuration but has been upgraded to 8GB of GDDR6X memory, while the current model uses the standard GDDR6 memory standard. Memory speeds increased to 19 Gbps. This provides an increase in overall bandwidth of up to 608GB/s, while the current model offers up to 448GB/s.

Tests leaked by Videocardz also show that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X variant is around 7-10% faster in Synthetic benchmarks like 3DMark Time Spy and Fire Strike. How this will affect gaming performance is yet to be seen, but a nominal 5-10% gain is expected. The graphics card should retain the same power despite upgrading to GDDR6X memory.

Earlier reports had shown that the pricing of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB GDDR6X graphics card is the same as the GDDR6 variant, so it is likely that NVIDIA will replace the production of their old cards with the new and improved variant. There is no information about the launch yet, but we can expect these models to make a silent entrance by the end of October.
